Former NFL player Brad William Henke, who later pursued acting and made an appearance in “Orange Is The New Black,” has passed away, according to TMZ.
Brad William Henke dead at 56
According to individuals close to Brad’s family, he passed away on Tuesday while sleeping. It’s unclear what caused the death.
Brad is most known for his role as a prison guard in the HBO series “OITNB.” He also appears in one of the series’ most important scenes, in which Poussey Washington, one of the show’s key characters, is murdered off.
In addition, he appeared in films like “Pacific Rim” and “World Trade Center,” as well as in TV episodes like “Justified” and “Lost.”
After hanging up his cleats in the NFL in 1994 due to ankle issues, Brad began acting. Prior to being selected by the New York Giants in the 1989 draft, he played his college ball at the University of Arizona.
Brad, a defensive lineman, also played for the Denver Broncos and participated in Super Bowl XXIV between the San Francisco 49ers and the Denver Broncos.
Acting in commercials was how Brad first broke into Hollywood. Later, he began winning TV guest roles on shows including “ER,” “Arli$$,” “Nash Bridges,” “Silk Stalkings,” and “Chicago Hope.”
In addition to “Dexter,” “Judging Amy,” “Crossing Jordan,” and “CSI,” Brad has more than 100 acting credits to his name.
