As the’most streamed female artist’ in 2022, Ghanaian vocalist Wendy Shay has once again shown why she is the king of dancehall music.
Wendy Shay, a Ruff Town Records artist, was the only female Ghanaian artist to have a song listed in Boomplay’s weekly top 100 songs chart earlier this year.
Black Sherif’s “Kwaku the Traveler” placed ninth on the charts, while Wendy Shay’s well-known song Survivor reached the Boomplay charts.
Gyakie and Diana Hamilton, who slid to the second and third spots on the chart, were beaten by Wendy Shay on the recently released list. With more than 2 million listeners.

Wendy Shay generated over 30.9 million streams. Additionally, Boomplay noted that Ghana, Nigeria, and Kenya were the main streaming countries for Wendy Shay’s Survivor.
The first song Wendy Shay released after taking a vacation from the music industry was Survivor, which came out in May 2022. Later, she published “Enigma,” an EP that includes the popular song “Habiba.”
