In a 90-second video clip that was posted online, the man can be seen repeatedly racing towards people in the charming Alpine town of Annecy, hurting at least six individuals, including four children under the age of five who are now in critical condition.
A 31-year-old Syrian national with legal asylum status in France was later charged by police with carrying out the attack, which President Emmanuel Macron referred to as “an act of absolute cowardice.”
As heartbreaking screams fill the air, the suspect in black rushes out of Le Paquiet Park’s play area at the beginning of the video.
