The Armfield Club, a Blackpool supporters’ club, stated it was “truly grieved” by Mr Johnson’s death, adding he was “Blackpool through and through”.

“We share our thoughts and condolences with his family, friends, and everyone at Blackpool Football Club,” Burnley wrote, adding that they were “shocked and saddened.”

More than $10,000 has been received through a fundraising website established to assist with the “faithful and true” Seasider’s funeral costs.

A 33-year-old man who was detained on suspicion of injuring on Saturday has been released on bail as police continue their investigation.

At Bloomfield Road in the Championship match, Blackpool and Burnley tied 0-0.
