The NC State guard stumbled backward and struck the ground forcefully. Smith looked to try to use his right arm as support when he fell, and the show later reported that he had elbow and neck injuries. Black was removed from the game after being given a Flagrant 2 foul. As his teammates gathered around him, the guard was given medical attention right after after hitting the floor inside the Smith Center.

He lay on the court for a time being attended to, several of his teammates looking genuinely distressed and worried. He was attended to by trainers before being placed on a stretcher, transported off the court, and then transferred to the hospital. Smith was discharged from the hospital, according to a statement issued by NC State on Sunday.

Smith’s status as a player is day-to-day. Following the game, NC State coach Kevin Keatts stated: “Terquavion is currently in our thoughts and prayers.” “I’m in a really emotional situation right now,” I said. In these situations, my guys are always in my prayers and thoughts.

The coach continued by saying that in his opinion, his team handled the aftermath of Smith’s injury admirably. Our guys are quite close-knit, according to Keatts. “I believed we handled it as well as we could,”

Smith took to Twitter late on Saturday to post: “I am ok appreciate all the thoughts and concern,” followed by a heart emoji. However, no details regarding Smith’s condition was made public.

Sports Illustrated projects Smith will be selected in the early second round of the 2023 NBA draft after he concluded the game with 12 points.

With his 61st double-double in the course of his career, Armando Bacot broke a tie with Billy Cunningham and set the North Carolina record. He also outrebounded Tyler Hansbrough, 1,221-1,219, to take the top spot on UNC’s career rebounding leaderboard.

The Tar Heels (14-6, 6-3), who have won nine of the last 11 games and three in a row, increased their home record to 10-0 this year, including 5-0 in ACC play.
