Technical University Teachers Association of Ghana (TUTAG) Suspends Strike Indefinitely

0

The Technical University Teachers Association of Ghana (TUTAG) announced on November 18 that it would go on indefinite strike action.

In a statement on December 10, TUTAG said the indefinite suspension came as a result of the end of talks with the administration on its demands.

We announce the suspension of the strike action that was called on Monday, November 18, 2022. This is done as a result of the conclusion of negotiations on internally generated fund-related conditions of service, off-campus and vehicle maintenance allowances, and in accordance with the Memorandum of Agreement signed between the government team and the labor unions (TUTAG, UTAG, GAUA and TEWU). The ban is effective right away, according to a statement from TUTAG.

In light of this, TUTAG has recommended all 10 Public Technical Universities to start classes again on Monday, December 12, 2022.

TUTAG thanked the National Labour Commission for assisting them in coming to a compromise about their demands.

Recall that TUTAG announced an indefinite strike action on November 18 in response to demands for the reassessment of the vehicle maintenance allowance, the implementation of the negotiated internally produced money, and other service conditions.

In a letter used at the time to declare its strike, TUTAG claimed that the Ghana Tertiary Education Council and other government organizations had not given their demand any serious consideration.

In a statement on November 18, TUTAG stated that it believed the agencies’ inactivity was a sign that the concerns in its letter had not received the serious consideration they deserved.
