Morocco became the first country from Africa to make it to the World Cup semifinals after defeating Portugal 1-0.
Youssef En-header Nesyri’s from a Yahya Attiat-cross Allah’s gave Morocco the lead in the vital match against Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal after goalkeeper Diogo Costa handled the ball carelessly in the 42nd minute.

The striker exhibited outstanding center-forward play by rising highest to meet the cross and tip it in while being sandwiched by Portugal’s Ruben Dias and Pepe.

The Atlas Lions, who were under a lot of pressure from their opponents, put up another great defensive display to hold the Portuguese at bay.

By defending against all that was thrown at them, the Moroccans maintained their fourth unblemished record in five games. They finally honed their strategy at that point, helped by Yassine Bounou’s heroics in goal.

Despite having little time with the ball, the North Africans made the most of it, maintaining their structure despite the front three frequently tracking back to help on defense.

The victory makes Morocco the first African country to ever reach the World Cup semifinals after many hard and futile attempts.

The winner of the semifinal match between France and England will play the Atlas Lions.
