Kevin Metzger, her 37-year-old ex-boyfriend and the daughter’s father, committed suicide in June 2021, according to the prosecution, after Reusch bombarded him with cruel and violent communications while he was abroad for military training. One of those ‘heinous’ messages purportedly contained a video of the suspect having sex with another man.

Although DiLucente acknowledged that the letters could be viewed as “immoral,” he was convinced Reusch would win the lawsuit. A similarity between the charges and the 2014 case involving Conrad Roy, then 18, and Michelle Carter, then 17, was likewise dismissed by the counsel.

Carter was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in 2017 after it was discovered that she had texted Roy to encourage him to end his life. By inhaling carbon monoxide, he committed suicide. 2020 saw Carter’s release from custody.

‘I can’t take this anymore,’ he posted on Facebook the day before Metzger passed away. She needs to be disciplined. The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review claims that the courts are moving too slowly.

Prosecutors are comparing the two instances, according to DiLucente. “You don’t have any of that here, what you have is an emotional relationship between two people involving their child,” the lawyer said. “[Carter] was actually telling him reinforcing him to do it, planning it, the methods and the means.”

According to the attorney, Reusch’s messages to Metzger may have been ‘immoral.’ “I don’t think it fits a criminal charge like helping someone commit suicide.” There was no compulsion, no duress, and no use of force, he claimed.

“There are always two sides to a story, and in the course of this case, our side of the story will be told,” DiLucente added. The preliminary hearings will last a while. And I believe a plethora of information will be discovered,” the attorney said in his conclusion.

On June 27, Reusch, a resident of Greenburg, is scheduled to appear in court once again before the trial. For two years, prosecutors have been looking into Metzger’s death.

Officials claimed that posts on his Facebook page and a suicide note that began, “Maybe she was right,” described the ‘trail of torture and solicitation’ that Reusch is reported to have put him through. Prosecutors described her comments to Metzger as “heinous and graphic” in a press release.

Reusch is referred to as Metzger’s “on-again, off-again” lover in court documents. In the past, the couple shared an apartment in Irwin, Pennsylvania. Trooper Steve Limani described the “bullying” that Metzger experienced as some of the worst he has ever seen during a press conference.

“This is the most extreme form of bullying I have ever seen, read about, or heard,” Limani added. “Someone is constantly telling someone to end their life.” You’re bringing up three of the most significant triggers you can have when hurting someone, he continued.

DiLucente said: “My God, if we’re going to start prosecuting people for sending harsh texts to one another instead of it being verbally communicated, then we are on a different path on our legal system.” This was in a different interview with CBS Pittsburgh.

While Metzger was abroad for military training in May 2021, Reusch started sending texts to him. According to the criminal complaint, the suspect and the couple’s daughter were present at home at the time.

Reusch stated in texts received over WhatsApp that she intended to live with another guy, who would also become the new father of their daughter, and that Metzger would no longer be a part of her life.

“I hope you do kill yourself for the sake of [their daughter].” Resuch allegedly wrote, “She would be better off not even knowing you. She texted Metzger on Mother’s Day 2021 to let him know she would be having s3x with her new boyfriend because their daughter “calls him daddy.”

Another note claimed that Metzger would ‘burn in hell’ and that she would be dancing over his grave. Resuch emailed Metzger a video of her having sex with another man after a dispute about money, and she also destroyed some of his possessions.

When Metzger initially filed a complaint in June 2021, she was initially charged with harassment. After his suicide, such accusations were dropped. Another comment said, “I actually want you to kill yourself because I think you are the worst person on this planet.”

Another said, “I will make it my last wish that you never see your daughter and that she knows who you really are.”

Another said: “I pray that you burn in hell and that my daughter dances on your grave with her real father.” Never again speak to us. Die slowly and with pain.

The research turned up older texts. She spoke to him in December 2020: “So delighted I used you for what little money you have…. You’ve only ever done one kind thing for me and the kids, and that was it. Your cash.

She told him to kill himself in June 2020. You’re not a true f*****g man, dude.

On June 18, 2021—two days before Father’s Day—Metzger was discovered dead. He was discovered when a friend requested that police check on him.

Reusch stated he wouldn’t be permitted to see his daughter in messages prior to Father’s Day. Police were informed by an acquaintance of Metzger that he had requested that she make sure the texts he was receiving “get known to the world.”

According to the authorities, Reusch removed WhatsApp from her phone after his passing.

According to Westmoreland County Nicole Ziccarelli, “Mr. Metzger may still be here today if those messages had not influenced and encouraged him to take his own life.”

The ‘constant and persistent’ communications, according to Ziccarelli, stopped when Metzger committed suicide at the age of 37.

We offer the Metzger family our sympathies for their loss and the sorrow they have felt since his passing. This sort of heinous behavior will not be tolerated or allowed by us,’ the DA continued.

Reusch is identified to as a “booking agent for a multinational alcoholic beverages company” in a 2020 article in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette about restaurants reopening following the Covid-19 pandemic.

She was drinking a pint of Guinness at 11:30 on the day the pubs reopened, according to the article.

“I wished I could get a cold draft outside.” All my expectations were realized. Almost as if everything had returned to normal. She was quoted as stating, “Except for the masks.”

Metzger spent almost 20 years in the US Army, including time in South Korea where he worked on the Patriot missile defense system, according to his obituary.

He served in the US Army for a while before rejoining the Reserve, this time with a focus on water filtration.

He is remembered as a’selfless and committed friend’ who enjoyed being in nature and listening to live music. He had been a bartender at the time of his death.

But above all, he had a strong love for his daughter. The tribute further states that he was a loving parent and that she was a tremendous source of inspiration for him.

Reusch is accused of misdemeanor harassment and the felony crime of helping suicide. On June 27, she will appear in court for the first time.
