Lawyers Jerome Jackson and Charisse Daniels requested compensation from the court on the 10th day of the trial on behalf of Vanessa Bryant and Chris Chester.
Jerome Jackson said to USA Today that he typically feels anxious when making his closing arguments. However, he said he didn’t feel this way when delivering the closing argument for this case. This was because he told the jurors that they couldn’t give the victims enough money for what they experienced.
The lawyer requested 2.5 million dollars for each plaintiff for the two years they suffered emotional distress. Additionally, he requested one million dollars for each additional year of future distress. He said that what the plaintiffs went through was inhumane and impossible to stack or spread out.
According to Vanessa Bryant’s lawyer, Luis Li, photographs were taken of Gianna and Kobe Bryant’s bodies with at least 28 Sheriff Department devices. These photos were allegedly shared between the deputies involved, who showed an alleged culture of insensitivity according to Li.
Li stated that the images were shared with people who had no reason to receive them. They were shared repeatedly as a means of humor and as souvenirs, according to Li. Bryant’s lawyer claimed the photographs showed ‘mangled bodies, close-ups of limbs and burnt flesh.’
