Monae is no stranger to being out in the open about their gender identity; in a Rolling Stone interview from back in April 2018, the musician revealed that they identify as pansexual.
‘I consider myself to be a free-ass motherf****r being a queer black woman in America who has had relationships with both men and women,’ they stated.

Later, Monae recalled, she read about pan$3xuality and thought, “Oh, these are things that I relate with too.” I’m interested in discovering more about myself.
