I’m Not Aware Of Fuel Prices Because I Don’t Own A Car – KT Hammond

KT Hammond, a member of parliament for Adansi Asokwa and a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has admitted that he is unaware of the current petrol costs in Ghana.

The long-term congressman claims that because he doesn’t own a car, he is unaware of how expensive gas is. In response to Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu, he said this in a committee hearing for the censure of Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta.

During the committee hearing on the motion of censure against the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, Mr. K.T. Hammond responded angrily when asked by the Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu, if he had observed the current fuel costs, saying “I don’t buy fuel, I don’t have a car so I don’t buy fuel.”

Tuesday morning’s public hearing of the committee on the proposal to censure Mr. Ofori Atta got off to a bad start due to disagreements between majority and minority committee members over how to submit evidence.

The committee was established as a result of the Minority’s motion to reprimand the Minister for alleged conflicts of interest and subpar performance. The Speaker claims that such a committee will give the Finance Minister a chance to address any conflicts of interest that Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu may have brought up. \s
The committee will be presented with the evidence. There will be a chance for the Minister to speak out. The Speaker of the House, Alban Bagbin, said that a report would be brought before the House for discussion.

The committee, which is co-chaired by NDC MP for Bolgatanga East Dominic Ayine and NPP MP for Adansi-Asokwa KT Hammond, must deliver its findings to the House in seven (7) days.
