The beloved showbiz personality Freddie Roman, a pioneering comedian from New York City, passed away recently. TMZ has discovered.

According to his daughter, Judi Levin, the actor, writer, producer, and all-around humorous man passed away on Saturday afternoon at a hospital in Boynton Beach, Florida, after having a heart attack this morning at his country club home.

He reportedly passed away in bed with his loved ones present, including his wife of 63 years, Ethel, who stayed by his side right up until the end.

Roman was previously in charge of the renowned NYC club, the Friars Club, which over the years has allowed a ton of comics and celebrities access to membership. This is arguably how most people will remember Roman. From the 1990s until Larry King succeeded him in 2014, FR served as the dean.

Roman, a skilled and experienced comic in his own right, had over the years appeared in a variety of prestigious venues, including Caesars Palace in Las Vegas and Harrah’s in Atlantic City, among others. Roman has also participated in a number of notable Comedy Central roasts.

Some of the celebrities he has criticized in the past include Drew Carey, Rob Reiner, Hugh Hefner, Chevy Chase, Jerry Stiller, and countless others who have received a Roman joke.

Roman has appeared in a number of other television episodes and motion pictures, such as “Red Oaks,” “The Comedian,” “Bittersweet Place,” “Law & Order: Criminal Intent,” “Finding North,” “Sweet Lorraine,” and others. His other claim to fame is that he co-wrote and starred in the popular revue “Catskills on Broadway.”

Freddie was a mainstay of New York comedy for a very, very long time and performed well into his older years. His wife and daughter remain at home. Aged 85, Roman.
