According to the tweet from Italian sports journalist Tancredi Palmeri, the attackers are made up of Eintracht and Atalanta fans from Bergamo in the country’s north.

One of the most significant squares in central Naples, the Piazza del Gesù, was the scene of “complete destruction and guerilla warfare,” according to a tweet from the TV station Sportitalia.

The second leg of the tie will be played tonight at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona; Napoli won the previous game 2-0.

Due to worries about possible violence, the Italian Ministry of Interior initially prohibited Eintracht Frankfurt supporters from purchasing tickets to the game.

Football Italia, a sports news website, said that Atalanta supporters may have purchased tickets for some of them, allowing them to avoid the restriction.

Three Napoli supporters were hurt during fighting before the first leg on February 21 that led to the ministry’s decision, according to the Daily Mail.
