Member of Parliament for the Assin Central Constituency, Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has said the World Bank, IMF and western nations have ganged up to make President Nana Akufo Addo unpopular, following the latter’s resolve to make Ghana self-sufficient to wean the country off from foreign aid.
“This is what Akufo Addo wants to do and he’s facing challenges; the whole world wants to make unpopular just as they did to Kwame Nkrumah; the CIA was behind the coup that overthrew Nkrumah because they realised that Nkrumah was educating the black people to liberate themselves”, he said.
He says the west has been the greatest nemesis of Africa and would do everything to ensure the black race fails, reason it has unleashed its ambassadors and representatives in Ghana to criticize the Akufo Addo administration on a daily basis, just to make the President unpopular.
Speaking on Net 2 TV in an interview monitored by MyNewsGh.com on Monday, he said the only way to salvage Africa from the claws of the “corrupt” Breton Woods institutions like the World Bank and IMF is to liberate our minds from reliance on the west.
“After physically putting us in chains, now they are using their minds to beat us and we are always going to be underdogs unless we liberate ourselves; and we can only liberate ourselves when we are self-sufficient and reduce the dependence on these white people”, he noted.
He said he has ample evidence to prove that the “World Bank is a corrupt institution and they need to change their systems and approach; they are equally corrupt; if they think Africans are corrupt, with the evidence I have against World Bank in this country, World Bank is equally corrupt” and begged the United States of America to “investigate every allegation made by the World Bank and IMF against African countries because they only serve their interest, they don’t serve the interest of the poor African countries.
“Because they have supervised looting and got Ghana to sign bogus agreements under the NDC, they want to make Akufo Addo unpopular because his government is reviewing those agreements, God save Ghana; let’s open our eyes, let us think as human beings; what any white man can do, we can also do it if we commit ourselves and be sincere and honest in our dealings”, he pointed out.
Hon. Kennedy Agyapong said President Akufo Addo in the last three years that he has being in office has made the difference from the reckless and carefree Mahama administration that kowtowed to the pressures from the west which eventually piled a lot of financial pressure on the Ghanaian economy.
