Charles Johnson Net Worth; Former professional American football player Charles Johnson was a defensive end for the National Football League (NFL). In 2007, the Carolina Panthers signed him as an undrafted free agent. He played collegiate football for the University of Georgia.

He played for the Panthers for the most of his career, where he became one of the best pass rushers in the league and set the franchise record for career sacks. Johnson was born in Hawkinsville, Georgia, on July 10, 1986. He went to Hawkinsville High School, where he excelled in football, basketball, and track as a three-sport athlete.

He attended the University of Georgia after graduating and played collegiate football there for the Bulldogs. He had a successful college career, starting each game as a junior and senior, and in his last season was selected to the All-SEC First Team. Johnson’s outstanding collegiate career did not result in a draft pick in the 2007 NFL Draft. He was an undrafted free agent who was signed by the Carolina Panthers and joined the roster after training camp. As a rookie, he participated in all 16 games, started one, and had 2.5 sacks.

In his second season, he got better, starting 11 games, and recording 4.5 sacks. He had a breakthrough season in 2009, starting 13 games, and leading the club with 11.5 sacks. Over the following few seasons, Johnson remained an effective pass-rusher with the Panthers. He was a Second-team All-Pro in 2015 and was named to the Pro Bowl in 2013.

With 74.5 career sacks, he also retains the Panthers franchise record. Johnson was a solid run defender and a team captain in addition to his pass rushing abilities. Due to salary cap difficulties, the Panthers released Johnson in 2016. He played one season for the Minnesota Vikings after signing with them before being released.

Later, he signed with the Cleveland Browns, but he left the team before the start of the season. Johnson had 74.5 sacks, 384 tackles, and 11 forced fumbles by the time his career was up.

After retiring, Johnson went back to his native Georgia and founded the Charles Johnson Foundation, which works to support young people in rural Georgian villages by giving them the tools they need to thrive in life through initiatives in education, health, and wellness.

He has started a construction business that focuses on creating and remodeling both commercial and residential buildings.
