Memphis rapper Big Scarr dies at 22 – Gucci Mane posts a heartfelt message on Instagram to acknowledge his passing, saying, “This hurts.”
The Shaderoom announced the musician’s passing on Thursday.

The rapper Gucci Mane, whose record company Scarr was signed to, confirmed it. The cause of Scarr’s death, who was born Alexander Woods, is now unknown.
Gucci captioned a carousel of photos featuring the Memphis native, adding, “This hurt,” and “I’m a miss you @bigscarr.”
The rapper was preparing for a tour with Key Glock and was most known for his mixtape Big Grim Reaper, which was published in 2021.

The rapper Gucci Mane, whose record label, Gucci Mane’s 1017 Records, the artist was signed to, confirmed the musician’s death on Thursday after it was first reported by The Shaderoom. At this time, neither the local news nor the police have confirmed the cause of Scarr’s death.

Gucci accompanied a carousel of photos featuring the Memphis native with the words “This hurt” and the hashtag “@bigscarr.” Scarr recently announced on Instagram that he would be joining fellow Memphis rapper Key Glock on tour as part of the Glockoma Tour 2023.

Key Glock posted on Twitter with the words “This s**t wicked wtf bruh!” with an emoji of a broken heart. The 31-year-old Jamaican-American podcaster and YouTuber DJ Akademiks paid respect to Big Scarr on Twitter after the news started making the rounds online. He said, “RIP Big Scarr.”

Through her Instagram Story, Enchanting, another member of the 1017 label with Scarr, appeared to confirm the information. I want to chat. I apologize if I don’t reply. She posted, “I just can’t,” along with an emoji of a broken heart. Along with a sad heart emoji, she also posted a picture of the rapper with the caption, “My babbbyyy my best friend my baby I love you forever & im so sorry.”

I’ll do everything to hug you again, she added after posting a clip of the two hugging.

Renni Rucci also paid respect, writing “Damn Scarr” and an emoticon of sadness.

Big Scarr was born on April 7, 2000, and grew up in the Magnolia neighborhood of South Memphis.

In 2019, he published “Make a Play,” which swiftly gained fame on YouTube, and thus began his rap career.

Gucci Mane’s label signed Scarr in 2020.

His mixtape, Big Grim Reaper, which was published in 2021 and was followed by a deluxe edition the following year, is what made him most well-known.

The tape debuted on the Billboard 200 at position number 25, selling 22,000 units in its first week.

His passing occurs following the deaths of Young Dolph and Snootie Wild, two prominent rappers from Memphis.

While Snootie Wild was shot in February while in Houston, Young Dolph was assassinated in Memphis in November 2021.
