Tyre Nichols Cause Of Death: What Happened To Tyre Nichols? Federal investigators said on Wednesday that a civil rights investigation into the death of a 29-year-old man who died three days after being stopped by Memphis police had been started.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office, the FBI Memphis Field Office, and the Justice Department’s civil rights division all indicated that they were looking into the officers involved in the traffic stop that led to Tyre Nichols being brought to a hospital in critical condition.

The Memphis Police Department and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation are the main sources for the few details that are known about what happened during the stop on January 7 and how Nichols was harmed.

Nichols, a native of Memphis, passed away on January 10 after two “confrontations” with police on January 7. Unknown is the official cause of death. Around 8:30 p.m., police pulled over Nichols for irresponsible driving.

“A confrontation broke out as authorities approached the automobile driver,” police continued. “The suspect then fled the area on foot.” When officers attempted to take Nichols into custody, “another confrontation followed.”

Police called for an ambulance for Nichols after he “complained of shortness of breath.” Nichols was seriously ill and hospitalized.

Police have not labeled each incident as a “confrontation.” The family of Nichols reported many issues, including brain edema and renal failure. Dialysis led to his death.

An image of Nichols taken after his death showed his wounds. Nichols has a twisted nose, welts, and is intubated. His intubation tube and hospital blankets both had blood on them.
